1、 Why are gearbox gears damaged
(1) During the operation of gears, due to the high-pressure squeezing effect on the teeth, tiny cracks are first formed on the tooth surface, and then the cracks develop into shallow pits, which are called tooth surface pitting or pockmarks. For gears with surface carburization, if the hardness of the gear core is insufficient, the carburized layer is too thin, and the surface strength is not enough, plastic deformation of the transition layer in the core is likely to occur after being loaded, resulting in deeper and larger pits in the carburized layer than pitting, that is, tooth surface peeling.
(2) Lubricating oil that is too thin (or of the wrong brand) or insufficient in quantity can damage the oil film on the surface of the gear, causing direct friction between the tooth surface and metal, resulting in high temperature and excessive tooth wear. Especially for the second gear of the hyperbolic main reducer, due to the large sliding speed range of the meshing tooth surface, the helix angle of the driving gear is large, and the axial force during operation is high, requiring high strength of the axial support components. Therefore, the requirements and adjustments for lubricating oil are also high, and if they do not meet the requirements, it will lead to gear wear.
(3) During the maintenance process, due to incomplete cleaning, the lubricating oil contains impurities, metal peeling particles, etc., which accelerate the wear of the tooth surface.
(4) Localized damage to the teeth causes stress concentration, resulting in fatigue fracture of the teeth.
2、 Troubleshooting
1) Improving maintenance quality ensures that the backlash, imprints, and bearing clearances of the gears, as well as the quality and purity of the lubricating oil used, meet the requirements.
2) In maintenance, attention should also be paid to the selection of accessory quality and the use of inferior products should be avoided.
3) Drivers should pay attention to excessive flying and excessive force when using the loading indicator.
