1¡¢ Common problems and causes of helical gear reducers
1. Gearbox overheating and oil leakage
In order to improve efficiency, worm gear reducers generally use non-ferrous metals as worm gears, while worm gears are made of harder steel. Due to the sliding friction transmission, a large amount of heat is generated during operation, causing differences in thermal expansion between the various parts and seals of the reducer, resulting in gaps between the mating surfaces. The lubricating oil becomes thinner due to the increase in temperature, which can easily cause leakage. There are four main reasons for this situation. Firstly, the material combination is unreasonable; Secondly, the quality of the meshing friction surface is poor; Thirdly, the selection of lubricant addition amount is incorrect; The fourth issue is poor assembly quality and usage environment.
2. Worn worm gear
Worm gears are generally made of tin bronze, and the paired worm material is hardened to HRC4555 with 45 steel or HRC5055 with 40Cr, and then ground to a roughness of Ra0.8 ¦Ì m by a worm grinder. The wear of the gearbox is very slow during normal operation, and some gearboxes can be used for more than 10 years. If the wear rate is fast, it is necessary to consider whether the selection is correct, whether it is operating under overload, as well as the material, assembly quality, or usage environment of the worm gear.
3. Wear of the transmission small helical gear
It generally occurs on vertically installed reducers, mainly related to the amount and variety of lubricating oil added. When installed vertically, it is easy to cause insufficient lubricating oil. When the reducer stops running, the transmission gear oil between the motor and the reducer will be lost, and the gears will not receive the necessary lubrication protection. When the gearbox is started, the gears may experience mechanical wear and even damage due to ineffective lubrication.
4. Worm bearing damaged
When a malfunction occurs, even if the gearbox is well sealed, it is often found that the gear oil inside the gearbox is emulsified, and the bearings are rusted, corroded, and damaged. This is because after the gearbox has been running for a period of time, the temperature of the gear oil increases and then cools, resulting in condensation water mixed with water. Of course, it is also closely related to the quality of bearings and assembly processes.
